We are pleased to announce we are expanding our services for corporate reporting to include Product Carbon Footprint Verification. SustainCERT now provides independent verification of product carbon footprints (PCFs) for food, agriculture, and apparel companies, in line with ISO 14067.
Customers and investors are increasingly requesting product carbon footprints as a measure of the environmental impact of a company’s products. Through verification, we help companies ensure that their PCFs are accurate, consistent, and comparable to meet customer demand and disclosure requirements.
With deep expertise in product- and value-chain GHG accounting and a proven record in independent assurance across complex value chains, SustainCERT brings credibility and precision to every verification. Our auditors apply recognized methodologies and sector-specific knowledge of food, agriculture, and apparel to carry out their reviews.
Product carbon footprints measure all the emissions involved in a product life cycle, from raw material production, through manufacturing and use, and eventually end-of-life disposal. PCFs are expressed in kilograms of CO2e and they help companies track the climate impact of their products. Tracking PCFs has quickly become common practice and it helps companies respond to customer needs, enables informed decision-making, and strengthens disclosures.
By verifying the PCFs, companies ensure that their data is accurate as well as increase comparability between different products by applying consistent methods. ISO 14067, for example, is a cross-sectoral methodology designed to calculate product-level GHG emissions.
