SustainCERT is approved as a VVB for Article 6.2 projects for the following sectoral scopes in Sweden:
Article 6.2 is a mechanism under the Paris Agreement, enabling countries to trade emissions reductions bilaterally.
Under this framework, host countries can sell units to a buyer country in exchange for investments, support for capacity building, and access to technologies not available through domestic resources. Those transferred units, known as Internationally Transferred Mitigation Outcomes (ITMOs), help buyer countries address gaps in meeting their climate goals. Article 6.2 creates new opportunities for international cooperation through carbon market projects aligned with countries’ climate goals.
As Article 6.2 frameworks and bilateral agreements continue to evolve, robust validation and verification processes are essential to ensure environmental integrity, transparency, and trust.
